US says alleged Venezuela plot a 'major disinformation campaign'

The United States on Tuesday called an alleged Venezuelan plot in which two Americans were arrested a "melodrama" and "disinformation campaign" by President Nicolas Maduro.

"There is a major disinformation campaign underway by the Maduro regime, making it difficult to separate facts from propaganda," a State Department spokesperson said of the alleged attempted overthrow, hours after President Donald Trump denied US involvement.
