Denmark's opposition Social Democrats were on course Wednesday to win the country's general election, two exit polls suggested after a campaign focused on concerns over climate, welfare and immigration.

Exit polls by public broadcasters TV 2 and DR both showed the left-wing bloc taking 90 of the 179 seats in parliament, which would pave the way for the Social Democrats, who were the favourites going into the election, to form a government under party leader Mette Frederiksen.
